A Call for Justice and Change: By. Sprdope.

As the son of immigrant parents, I have witnessed firsthand the struggles, sacrifices, and resilience that our community has displayed in the face of adversity. We are a people who have always fought to make a better life for ourselves, our families, and future generations. But right now, the situation for immigrants in this country is nothing short of tragic. The current presidential administration has proven time and time again that it values political games over human lives, and it has emboldened hatred, division, and cruelty.

We live in a nation that prides itself on being a “melting pot,” but these days, the reality is far from that. The very foundation of this country is built by immigrants and rightnow that's under attack. As a son of immigrant parents, I cannot stand by and watch as the rights and dignity of my people are stripped away by policies that ignore the core values of compassion, respect, and opportunity. El Sueño Americano, the American Dream, has become a nightmare for far too many.

When I look at the way immigrants are being treated under this administration, I am filled with a deep sense of anger and frustration. Families are being torn apart, children are being held in cages, and communities are being demonized simply because they seek a better life. No podemos permitir lo, we can't just allow this to continue.

The rhetoric from the White House, filled with derogatory language and xenophobic sentiments, has only intensified the suffering of immigrants. For too long, this administration has promoted the idea that immigrants are a threat to this country, that we are “criminals” or “invaders.” But the truth is, immigrants are the backbone of this nation. We contribute to every sector of society, from agriculture and healthcare to technology and education. Our hands build, our minds innovate, and our spirits endure.

And yet, despite our contributions, we are constantly vilified. The idea of building walls to keep us out, of separating families at the border, of denying asylum to those fleeing violence and persecution, these are actions that speak to the heart of who we are as a society. These are not the actions of a nation built on libertad and igualdad (freedom and equality). These are actions born from fear, ignorance, and a complete lack of empathy.

What is even more heartbreaking is the way this administration has made it increasingly difficult for immigrants to find a path to citizenship. The promise of legalización (legalization) has become a distant dream for many, as the doors of opportunity are slammed shut with each new policy. DACA recipients, Dreamers, these are the young people who were brought here as children, who have known no other home, who have built their lives in this country. And yet, instead of being given the opportunity to contribute fully to society, they live in constant fear of being deported to a land they don’t even remember.

But despite the pain, despite the darkness, I refuse to lose hope. La esperanza nunca muere (hope never dies). Our community has faced oppression before, and we have always found a way to rise. This is not the first time our people have been treated as less than human, and it won’t be the last. But our voices are powerful. We have always been a resilient and courageous people. We will continue to fight, not just for our own rights, but for the rights of all those who are marginalized and oppressed.

As we face these challenges, we must remember that nuestra fuerza está en la unidad (our strength is in unity). We cannot allow ourselves to be divided. We cannot allow fear to control us. We must stand together, across racial, cultural, and political lines, to demand justice and to demand that our voices be heard.

This fight is not just about immigration. It is about justicia social (social justice). It is about recognizing the inherent dignity of every human being, regardless of where they were born. It is about standing up for the values of equality, compassion, and respect.

In the face of adversity, we must remember the words of our ancestors, sí se puede (yes we can). We can make a difference. We can change the system. But only if we come together, speak out, and demand the change that is long overdue.

I encourage all of you, whether you are an immigrant, the child of immigrants, or an ally, use your voice. Levántate y lucha (stand up and fight). Write, protest, vote, do whatever it takes to make sure that our message is heard. The future of this country depends on it.

I know that one day the future will be one where all people, regardless of their immigration status, are treated with dignity and respect. I pray that we can build a nation where no one is left behind, where la raza (the race) stands united in the face of injustice. And I pray that one day, our children will grow up in a country that truly lives up to its ideals of freedom, equality, and opportunity for all.

May we continue to fight for what is right, may we continue to resist, and may we never give up on the dream of a better future.

We will rise. We will be heard. And we will win.

QUE VIVA LA RAZA!
